USB Duet EZ-Dock
July 30th, 2007
What makes an UMPC stand out from the standard notebook? Other than the obvious reduction in size, there is also the lack of an optical drive. The USB Duet EZ-Dock technology lets you take advantage of other USB peripherals on a host computer via a USB cable, as well as send a mirrored desktop screen to the desktop’s LCD monitor, letting you share also the desktop’s keyboard and mouse. This very USB connection also lets you hook up to the Internet and enables data synchronization. To date, no UMPC manufacturers have adopted this technology just yet, but hopefully that situation will be remedied in the near future. A solution like this sure beats carrying a portable optical drive wherever you go.
