Pyxis RGPS-3000 for golfers

Golfing has certainly taken the high tech route with the Pyxis RGPS-3000 GPS watch. This device not only tells the time, it loads your favorite golf course while keeping track of your current score. Other than the 18 holes, the RGPS-3000 ought to come handy in other outdoor activities such as running, bicycling, and hiking thanks to the pre-loaded software that caters to various outdoor conditions. It will be released in Korea first for approximately $215, with no word on a worldwide debut. Too bad it can’t improve your swing or overall score, but at least you won’t have to crack your head trying to remember which hole you’re currently at.

Wii Airplane Controller Stand

Wii Airplane Controller Stand

The Wii has certainly spawned more accessories than either the PS3 or Xbox 360 to date, thanks to the inventive games available on the console. Accessory manufacturers are trying to do their level best to increase the level of realism within a Wii game, and the Wii Airplane Controller Stand is one of them. It is actually a placeholder with a compartment to store your nunchuck on the left side and the Wiimote on the right side, getting ready to tackle any future flight simulators. I think the Wii would be more suitable for fast-paced arcade action shooting rather than gliding idly through a city in a jumbo jet. Interested folks will be able to pick up the Wii Airplane Controller Stand for $12.99.

LightCam captures videos in the dark

LightCam captures videos in the dark

No, this is no night vision-capable video recorder that captures its subjects for posterity without their knowledge, but the LightCam actually comes in the form factor of a flashlight that makes it extremely portable. It has an aluminum body that provides waterproof capability, adopting a white LED with infrared ray to help capture video in a dark place. The LightCam can capture image stills as well as simultaneous video/audio recording. It is currently available in Korea, but the price tag of $500 will probably drive many people away. Unless you’re a paranoid father of you lovely young lady, I think the LightCam will find some very niche uses.

Lomak controls your PC

Lomak controls your PC

How would you like to simplify the controls on your computer? The Lomak manages to do that, operating your computer through the use of a light pointer. One benefit would be accomodating those who have difficulty working with traditional input devices since the Lomak offers unprecedented (Light Operated Mouse and Keyboard) ease-of-use. You can use either your hand or head to beam the light at a pad which contains letters and numbers in a rotary style. There is virtually no learning curve, making this a truly accesible interactive device. Looks like we’re now starting to move beyond handsfree phone calls to handsfree Internet surfing.

Mustek supersizes ScanExpress

Mustek supersizes ScanExpress

Mustek has just unveiled the ScanExpress A3 USB scanner that is capable of handling monstrous magazines and tabloids up to 11″ x 17″ in length. You might think it will cost you a pretty penny, but you’ll be surprised to know that the ScanExpress A3 retails for a mere $300, whereas other tabloid scanners cost anywhere from $1,000 upwards. Connected to your computer via USB 2.0, the ScanExpress A3 USB offers superior scan times compared to its predecessor that was released half a decade ago. Great for those who dive deep into research work and need to scan large amounts of pages at once, while those who scan magazines and photographs will appreciate at how much more one can scan with a single pass.

SoundBall yelps when kicked

SoundBall yelps when kickedI’d be pretty freaked out if I knew the ball that I kick around in the garden lets out a yelp whenever it meets my foot. Aleksei R. Stevens won’t be though, as he developed a concept product known as the SoundBall which transmits motion data to a computer via Bluetooth thanks to the internal motion sensors. You won’t get MP3-grade noise though, as the SoundBall currently bleeps out corresponding electronic noises at this point in time. I’m not sure whether there is any practical use in such a concept, but perhaps it could evolve into an interactive toy of some sort.

Essential Wall Dimmer

Essential Wall Dimmer

Ever wonder why most electronics are rather cold in nature? The Essential Wall Dimmer turns that notion upside down by making something as simple as turning on the light switch an enjoyable experience. Your fingertips will be greeted with a tufted textile instead of traditional plastic, where the built-in sensor will then turn the lights on, off, or dim it. There are up to 14 different colors to choose from, depending on your preference and color of the wall. The Essential Wall Dimmer retails for $99 and is definitely considered a luxury item compared to standard dimmers that cost just a fraction of that price. The material used is an electronic textile constructed out of conductive yarns, neoprene, and acrylic known as Plush Sensing Touch Technology.

USB Duet EZ-Dock

USB Duet EZ-Dock

What makes an UMPC stand out from the standard notebook? Other than the obvious reduction in size, there is also the lack of an optical drive. The USB Duet EZ-Dock technology lets you take advantage of other USB peripherals on a host computer via a USB cable, as well as send a mirrored desktop screen to the desktop’s LCD monitor, letting you share also the desktop’s keyboard and mouse. This very USB connection also lets you hook up to the Internet and enables data synchronization. To date, no UMPC manufacturers have adopted this technology just yet, but hopefully that situation will be remedied in the near future. A solution like this sure beats carrying a portable optical drive wherever you go.
