Arriva wireless headphone ring

Arriva wireless headphone ring

Arriva has concocted a pseudo-wireless headphone ring complete with what looks like an iPod Shuffle attached to a pipe cleaner that is in turn hooked to a pair of ear buds. You wear this with the controls located right behind your head, which is a pretty awkward position to be in. Imagine fumbling with the next track while you’re busy doing your laps on the treadmill. The headphone ring that you see is actually a prototype, as the final version will be 30% smaller and can be worn just under the hair in order to conceal this from the eyesight of plain folks. The final product will begin shipping within 5 to 6 weeks, although there is no word on pricing.

Vava Dog sweater for laughs

Vava Dog sweater for laughs

Nearly everything these days come with some sort of controls, and this dog sweater definitely latches onto this trend. Known as the Vava Dog with a quartet of controls, you get Eat, Play, Sleep, and Poop which are the bare essentials for any self-respecting pooch, although they’re missing out on the procreation part to keep things family friendly. These sweaters are hand-made and cost $24 a pop, but will definitely be a conversation starter with whoever lays their eyes on it, especially Apple iPod lovers.

Sharp first to have THX-certified TV

Sharp first to have THX-certified TV

Sharp is well position to be the first company in the world to market a THX-certified television. Known as the T-series, these new LCD TVs will come in 52″ and 65″ variants, offering viewers the best match of brightness and contrast along with home theater level quality for the best viewing experience possible. Features include a brightness level of 350cd/m2, a contrast ratio of 2,500 to 1, a trio of HDMI input, a single DVI input, two FireWire ports, and Ethernet connectivity. They certainly won’t come cheap though, with the 52″ LV-52TH1 and 65″ LV-65TH1 retailing for $6,873 and $11,599 respectively. I guess casual movie lovers will hardly find the better performance a tradeoff worth the hefty price, but purists will disagree with me, sparing no coin when it comes to quality.

Wiimote upgraded to shotgun

Wiimote upgraded to shotgunLooks like the Wii is not short on peripherals, and this shotgun-like add-on is the latest in the market. It comes with a holder for both your Wiimote and Nunchuck, and while it is shaped like a rifle, most people would probably describe it as a shotgun instead. Just like the plethora of other Wii accessories, this one is extremely light on your pocket at just $16.58 a pop. I have a feeling that Nike, Adidas, and other sporting apparel giants will come out with their own range of Wii exercise gear in the future after the WiiFit fever catches on.

Kanguru goes green with Eco Drive

Kanguru definitely aims to do its part in keeping the earth green with the launch of its new Kanguru Eco Drive which avoids the use of hazardous materials during manufacturing while sporting a trio of power saving modes that reduces the drive’s power consumption by up to 75% when compared to a standard hard drive. Lower power consumption means a longer operational life for the drive, which is always a good thing considering the amount of important data stored inside. These new Eco Drives will come in various capacities ranging from 80GB to 750GB, and all of them feature 7,200rpm, USB 2.0 connectivity, a vertical stand, a power supply, and a custom carry case. SATA versions are in the works and will be available in the near future, but at this moment the 80GB and 750GB models will retail for $94.95 and $349.95 respectively.

SpeechEasy anti-stuttering device

SpeechEasy anti-stuttering device

A child who stutters often experiences ridicule at school or in the playground which is extremely damaging to his/her self-esteem. The SpeechEasy device helps alleviate that condition by helping reduce stutter in speech thanks to the natural phenomenon known as the “Choral Effect”. Studies have shown that a person’s stutter is reduced dramatically or even eliminated whenever they speak or sing in unison with others, and the SpeechEasy recreates that phenomenon in a tiny device that fits right into your ear without making it too obvious. Words spoken while wearing the SpeechEasy will be digitally replayed in their ear with a slight delay and frequency modification, and hence reducing or eliminating the stutter.

Programmable LED belt is loud

Programmable LED belt is loudLoud in terms of fashion, that is. Seriously, this belt isn’t exactly the most attractive proposition in the fashion department at any point in time, but if you’re a hard core geek and want to broadcast your personal message to the world, you can’t go wrong with this along with your pants pulled up high. The LED Belt Buckle & Belt holds up to 6 messages, where the first message has a cap of 512 characters while the other five messages can hold 256 characters at maximum. Yamanote Train Alarm Clock

Yamanote Train Alarm ClockSince bullet trains are the main mode of transport in Tokyo as well as other parts of Japan, it makes perfect sense to have the train schedule close at hand in order to better plan out your day. The Yamanote Train Alarm Clock not only helps you wake up on time, it comes a backgroundthat features the current train schedule as indicated by the clock’s moving arms. Don’t worry about the background being outdated as it will get regular updates via radio time signal. Currently, the clock’s face features corresponding lines on Tokyo’s Yamanote train line. The love affair with trains do not end there, as the alarm sounds are actually real melodies played through the entire Yamanote train line. Neat - when will we see one of these Stateside that feature the subway schedule?
