Apple wants to prevent theft

iPod theft has been on the rise since the portable media player took the world by storm, and Apple has recently filed a patent for a charge prevention system to frustrate thieves. This is made possible by preventing iPhones and iPods from charging up on a non-approved charge cable. There are still many questions to consider regarding this concept, where the thief could actually make away with your charge cable on your travels, or even what would happen if you lost your own charge cable? Foresight also dictates that you won’t get back your lost item once it is gone, whether it can be charged or not.
