Apple tones down MagSafe adapter

Apple tones down MagSafe adapterApple’s 85W MagSafe adapter isn’t exactly the most svelte adapter in the whole world, but Apple has decided to do something about it by coming up with a redesign. The new MagSafe power adapter for the MacBook Pro is now much smaller in size, and shares a much closer resemblance to the 60W MacBook MagSafe adapter instead. The model number associated with this slimmed down version is MA938LL/A and will probably be available within the next three to four weeks at a yet undisclosed price.

Logitech G9 leaked

Logitech G9 leaked

The photos that you see above show what is apparently the Logitech G9 gaming mouse which is meant to be an upgrade to the G5. It looks pretty much like the real thing, although there has been no official word from Logitech just yet. Should this be the real McCoy, it will certainly mean a major overhaul in the design department, allowing for interchangeable faceplates for a greater level of personalization. Other information garnered from the picture includes the removal of DPI sensitivity buttons that were previously just below the scroll wheel, along with a relocation of LEDs for the resolution display. Do you think this is a fake to throw people off their balance before the real G9 surfaces?

DIY Bike looks comfy

DIY Bike looks comfy

Now we’ve heard of stories about riding bicycles and its side effects (especially in males), but this is one bicycle that offers more creature comforts that the rest do. Not only does it get you around in an environmentally friendly manner, it also does so with you seated comfortably in a 35 pound leather executive office chair. Currently, this is still a work in progress and there is still much to be done before it looks as good as it rides. Do any of our readers have a penchant for DIY modes of transport?

Apple wants to prevent theft

Apple wants to prevent theft

iPod theft has been on the rise since the portable media player took the world by storm, and Apple has recently filed a patent for a charge prevention system to frustrate thieves. This is made possible by preventing iPhones and iPods from charging up on a non-approved charge cable. There are still many questions to consider regarding this concept, where the thief could actually make away with your charge cable on your travels, or even what would happen if you lost your own charge cable? Foresight also dictates that you won’t get back your lost item once it is gone, whether it can be charged or not.

Mario subwoofer a sweet DIY job

Mario subwoofer a sweet DIY job

Looks like we have yet another DIY object and this time it comes in the form of a subwoofer. While other subwoofers come in a wooden rectangular box and comes in the same color as Ford’s Model T, this subwoofer takes a radically different route, featuring the famous question mark block from Mario’s world. In addition, it is flanked by a brick that could possibly reveal a coin should you hit your head against it hard enough. I kid, but this work of art definitely deserves a standing ovation as evidenced by Yoshi looking all starry eyed. What makes this complete would be enjoying your Wii games with this subwoofer sitting in the middle of your living room.

Super Smart Card from Korea

Super Smart Card from KoreaKoreans will be able to benefit from the Super Smart Card when it is implemented across the country, boasting a payment and security card that has never been seen before in the world. Alternatively, it is known as the Biometric Verification Security System that enables both government agencies and commercial businesses throughout Asia to verify the identities of each person securely and accurately, be they the average Joe or high profile leaders. These Super Smart Cards look set to be the main medium of payment and identification, merging the functions of all our various cards such as the driver’s license, ATM card, credit card, and ID. I like the streamlining process, but it does make me wonder whether this medium is secure enough for everyday use.

GPS-enabled rings to the fore

GPS-enabled rings to the fore

Walk around the city without looking as though you are a tourist, thanks to this GPS-enabled ring. Gail Knight from Britian has successfully developed a system made of GPS-enabled vibrating rings, where you wear one on each finger. The vibration will nudge you towards the right direction - for example, the ring on your right hand will buzz if you’re supposed to turn right and vice versa. Should you have taken the wrong turn, both rings will buzz. A pager-szied device kept in your pocket will retrieve those signals as you just have to enter a British postcode within. I only hope that the refresh rate will be fast enough to get your bearings lest you start getting double buzzes all the time.
