DIY Dreamcast Guitar

DIY Dreamcast Guitar

Somehow, it seems as though guitar controllers for the home console department are getting more and more popular and realistic, and this has driven people who are great with their hands to create their own versions of a guitar controller. Here we have a defunct Sega Dreamcast masquerading as a guitar, featuring a trio of strings (the other three broke). It looks pretty dreamy, but chances are the sound won’t be up to par but passable instead. Sad to see a great console like the Dreamcast being relegated to guitar fodder now. One thing’s for sure though, creativity isn’t quite dead just yet, and you would probably agree with me that this Dreamcast Guitar would look great when placed beside the Guitar Heronoid.

Wooden USB Memory Strap

Wooden USB Memory Strap

Brando has gone all natural on us this time, featuring a Wooden USB Memory Strap that comes with integrated flash memory which stores your data and information in what some might call it a fashionable neck strap. $32 will net you 2GB of storage space, and best of all is, you won’t have to worry about losing your protective cover since it is held in place by the strap itself. I wouldn’t recommend smoking near this though, as it looks to be more highly flammable than the average plastic USB flash drive.

Tactical Door Viewer gizmo

Tactical Door Viewer gizmoCheck out the Tactical Door Viewer which is in essence, a peep hole reverser that was developed with some aid from the law enforcement industry that helps people assess potential hazards behind dwelling doors. It is extremely portable, comfortably slipping into any pocket without a problem and is even easier to use. Just place the peephole in the door and look inside without running the risk of alerting whoever is inside. The Tactical Door Viewer is compatible with most peepholes used in the US and works with similar peepholes in other countries. It retails for $88 a pop and could lead to more celebrity scandals as the papparazzi learn to use this to their advantage.

Philips WAK3300 alarm clock

Philips WAK3300 alarm clockPhilips is very well known for its range of consumer electronics, but the alarm clock isn’t exactly their strongest forte. The WAK3300 is the company’s latest offering, and it can work as a standalone alarm clock as well as stream audio from your computer via WiFi or over an Ethernet network. It takes approximately 20 seconds to get the entire setup running, and looks a wee bit like the iPod’s standard layout for easier navigation for those familiar with Apple’s portable media player. This will probably be a niche buy for folks who are already pretty far ahead in the tech curve at home (WiFi and all), as it would be a waste of 89 quid if you get this for grandpa who uses it merely to wake up from his slumber every morning.

Prosthetics get modern update

Prosthetics get modern updateReplacement limbs have gotten a technological boost, and they certainly seem to suggest the the original isn’t up to par either. Otto Bock, a healthcare company, has just unveiled its latest C-Leg version that is meant for military use. A microprocessor controlled knee is capableof adjusting the hydraulic systems according to the type of activity being carried out, where a remote control switches between modes. Guess this will mean more Six Million Dollar (not adjusted for inflation) folks running around these days, thanks to the advancement of technology.

Curve Extreme Sport concept

Curve Extreme Sport concept

The Curve Extreme Sport is a skateboard concept that looks to have its design roots in the MotoGP environment, thanks to a pair of MotoGP-inspired tires that actually taper on both ends, enabling the rider to make sharp turns during a high speed down-hill race. This is made possible by the drafted angle of the tires which minimizes the contact point for minimal friction, translating to maximum speed and greater agility. Racing down-hill in a skateboard or something that looks like one isn’t exactly my cup of tea, thank you very much. Better call your insurance agent and pay a higher premium if you’re ever thinking of picking one of these up should it materialize.

Armchair Cruisers get new range

Armchair Cruisers get new rangeArmchair Cruisers have a new line of motorized armchairs that will make Homer Simpson fall in love with it in an instant, where these upholstered armchairs will be available in different models that seat anywhere from one to three people comfortably. The single seat electric drive model retails for a jaw-dropping $3,995, while the gas-powered V-Twin love seat is nearly double the price at $7,995. A basic joystick system is used to move you around. There is an option to throw in extras such as sound systems, custom lights, bling kits, storage options, and non-marking tires (to placate the lady of the house). Sounds more like a waste of money - you’d look pretty silly seated in one of these in public as it is more suitable for home use only.

Guitar Heronoid from Rafael

Guitar Heronoid from RafaelWhile others take to Guitar Hero like a duck to water, there are musically challenged people who find this game pretty hard to complete. The Guitar Heronoid by Rafael Mizrahi shows you how it is done, as the robot is divided into the “brain” and “body” sections, where the former takes charge of detecting and analyzing PS2 video signals while the latter generates play commands for the “body” to execute. The “body” will read the processed play commands and move its fingers accordingly. Now is this totally, like, cool or what? I would love to have one of these just to freak people out, never mind the high score.

Kanguru hooks up to many

Kanguru hooks up to manyIf the Kanguru Portable Multi-Interface external hard drive was human, it would probably be part of the United Nations envoy since it is able to communicate across four different interfaces, ranging from USB 2.0 to Firewire, Cardbus/PCMCIA, and parallel. Guess it missed out on something important like eSATA, but that’s another can of worms. This 3.5″ external hard drive will come in various capacities with 250GB being the top-end model, and each $119.95 purchase comes with a carry case and an external power adapter. Perfect for those who are constantly on the go, troubleshooting other people’s computer problems as you won’t have to fumble about looking for the right adapter.

Tanizawa helmets out of this world

Tanizawa helmets out of this world

It would seem as though these helmets from Tanizawa of Japan are pre-cursors to those full-faced helmets worn by Clone Troopers before the Empire was formed. A couple of versions were paraded at the Japan Wireless Show, where “A” came with a W-CDMA (FOMA) card, an integrated telephone, GPS navigation, a RFID chip, and a camera that displays real-time audio and video information. As for the “B” mode, it boasts a vibrating system, an integrated walkie-talkie, solar panels, and simple visualization via a LED display. Sounds as though these would find a place on the battlefield. You know how hard it is communicating with someone else in the midst of battle - just take a look at how Captain Lennox fared in Transformers as he tried to call the Pentagon while battling Scorponok.
