Saitek is one company that has stuck to its guns in the computer gaming peripheral industry throughout various highs and lows, and they are most famous for their flight sticks and flight simulator accessories. They have just announced that a new Cyborg Rumble Gamepad is in the works, giving console gamers who are accustomed to handheld controllers a familiar feel when they check out a computer game, so the next time Gears of War makes an appearance on the PC, Xbox 360 fans would be able to have a good time without fumbling about with a keyboard and mouse (although I still think the keyboard/mouse partnership cannot be beat). Features include a Precision Control Mode and the ability to alternate positions of the left analog stick and digital D-pad. Pricing and availability details are currently unknown.

Paro from Japan has been certified to be the “World’s Most Therapeutic Robot” in the world, coming in the form of a baby harp seal. Back in 2005 when we first covered it, it was mentioned that only 200 of these will be produced but I assume that more than that have already been released since then. Better known as the Paro Mental Commitment Robot, psychologists predict that the Paro will be able to help those suffering from mental stress or physical injury recover faster thanks to the beneficial interaction between humans and pets (robotic or otherwise). Not too bad an achievement for the robot, considering how it has already etched its name in the hallowed halls of Guiness World Records shortly after its introduction. Paro will only be available to institutional buyers who operate children’s hospitals and retirement residences, retailing between $2,500 and $3,000 each.

The Crawling Zombie will definitely be great company to your growing collection of desktop toys, as he comes with just the upper half of his body. His hands are his primary means of transport, crawling manically along the ground to freak everyone around out. Not only that, the experience is made all the more authentic with eyes that glow a bloody red and a growling voice emitted from his rotting larynx. All you need to do to bring him to life is to tap it’s hand or clap your hands (with the help of 3 AA batteries of course), and not Voodoo magic as many believed. The Crawling Zombie retails for £19.95 each. One question though - assuming a zombie eats human brains, where does it all go to? Does he actually digest it?

Digitimes has raised the issue of the second generation iPhone yet again, claiming that this handset will ship in September at a price that costs half of the original iPhone, between $249 to $299. Could this be the purported iPhone nano that we’ve looked at earlier this month? Only time will tell, as leads that led to both Wintek and Quanta (possible manufacturers of the device) ended up as dead ends since they dealt the dreaded “confidentiality” hand to reporters. Since there is no official word from Apple either, those who have bought the iPhone late last month need not worry about having picked up an obsolete device since this rumor doesn’t look as if it holds any water.

Letting your dog roam around the neighborhood unattended can be invigorating (for both the pooch and the owner as they spend some quiet time all by themselves), but what happens when Lassie fails to return home? The Pet Tag Flasher definitely comes in handy especially long after the sun has set, featuring a quartet of red LED lights that flashes to help you locate it. These tags are waterproog, so they work just fine even if your dog decides to cool down at the local creek. On a more sombre note, this helps you identify any unfortunate roadkill in a flash (pun not intended)

I’m not too sure why anyone would want to lug around a desktop replacement notebook for business purposes since a PowerPoint slide rarely requires such raw power, but that hasn’t stopped Samsung from unveiling the Desknote Sens G25 notebook. Measuring a whopping 19″ in size, the G25 comes in a glossy black color and boasts a 320GB SATA hard drive, seven USB 2.0 power, and a display that has a contrast ratio of 1,000 to 1 and a brightness level of 300cd/m2 to keep your eyes fresh despite sitting in front of it for hours. The Samsung Desknote Sens G25 is large enough that the keyboard comes with a numeric keypad just like those found on a regular desktop PC keyboard. It will be available in Korea later this month and retail for approximately $1,090. Heck, the G25 looks wider than the model’s shoulders - she had better have a strong boyfriend to lug this around for her!

User generated content on the Internet has proved to be extremely popular, and Sony jumps onto the bandwagon with the pocket-friendly Net-sharing CAM that targets social networkers and video bloggers who make video upload a daily affair. Weighing just 5 ounces and measuring 1.2″ x 4″ x 2.25″, the Net-sharing CAM not only captures Web-friendly videos (MPEG 4 format), it can also shoot 5 megapixel stills which are more than decent enough for print. Video footage is stored on a Memory Stick PRO Duo card and comes pre-loaded with PMB Portable software. Additional features include built-in flash, 4x digital zoom, a 2.4″ color LCD display, and a rechargeable li-ion battery that lasts up to 90 minutes on a single charge. The Net-sharing CAM will retail for $200 a pop when it is available on July 19 (online pre-orders). Expect to see more of similar devices from various manufacturers as they attempt to cash in on the user generated content craze that looks set to stay for a long time.

Now the Amplified Miracle Phone would make a great gift for those who have hearing trouble, since it not only amplifies the sound that comes through, the phone itself eliminates static and background noises to provide you with crystal clear conversations. In addition, it is compatible with hearing aids so those who are hard-of-hearing won’t have any trouble using this. All these are made possible thanks to the wonders of bone conduction - a similar method used by some other Bluetooth headsets to date. You can pick up the Amplified Miracle Phone for $29.98 a pop and start chatting up family and friends alike in greater clarity like never before.

Mention the words “iPod dock” and you’ll probably conjure up a mental picture that involves a rectangular device resting on a table horizontally, with an iPod connector in the middle which is flanked by a pair of speakers. The Shanling MC-30 Music Center changes that though, featuring a brushed aluminum squat chassis with attractive blue LED highlights to spruce things up aesthetically. The caps located on its two forward supports actually double up as the input selector and volume control, while additional features include the mentioned iPod support, a HiFi CD player, an integrated AM/FM tuner, and a tube power amplifier. At $1,000 each, the Shanling MC-30 Music Center certainly isn’t cheap but how many other people do you know own one of these in their homes?

Looks like the iPhone has a new challenger, and this time it is Sophia Mobile from Japan and its Nani. Check out the specifications on this bad boy - it comes with a generous 4.3″ touchscreen display, supports video playback at 800 x 400 pixels, has a microSD memory card slot, WiFi connectivity, a digital camera, and a TV tuner. No word on when this will be released nor its price, but since it is a homegrown product, chances are it will sell tons at home as well as abroad. The thought of the screen alone makes me drool, and if I didn’t know any better, I would’ve thought that this was a portable media player of some sort. Hopefully they pack in some Bluetooth into the mix.
