Cowon X7 to be announced

Word on the street has it that Cowon will be announcing its X7 portable media player at the IFA electronics show in Europe this year. Sources claim that the X7 won’t rely on flash memory for storage, but instead use a hard drive for more bang for your buck. These hard drives will come in 80GB and 60GB capacities, somewhat reminiscent of the iPod Video. Certain quarters are hoping that the X7 will offer a tactile interface and not a touchscreen as seen in the X5. The snapshot of the Cowon X7 on the right is conjured, so don’t take this as gospel truth just yet. Will this take away some steam from the upcoming touchscreen iPod?
