Barely a week into the iPhone’s release and Griffin has already unveiled the PowerJolt Car Charger for it, making it the inaugural accessory for the iPhone from Griffin. The PowerJolt is plugged into your vehicle’s cigarette lighter or accessory power socket on one end, while the other is connected to the iPhone in order to charge the device. When your iPhone is fully juiced up, the charge indicator will glow gree, while amber shows otherwise. Don’t worry about power surges since it comes with an automotive fuse to guard against such unexpected disasters. If you already own an iPod that uses a full-size dock connector, you’ll be pleased to know that this $20 accessory is backwards compatible with those as well.

Looks like robotic dogs seem to be experiencing a boom not too soon after the Sony Aibo became extinct, and this time we have a plush robotic dog known as Dacky. Half a dozen sensors installed within Dacky helps him learn more about you as well as his surroundings. In due time, Dacky will even learn to chat or sing to you (in Japanese of course), developing a personality to suit the way he is treated. Not only that, Dacky won’t bother you in the middle of your slumber as he is smart enough to adjust his own sleeping pattern to suit yours. This new toy from TakaraTomy retails for $179 a pop, and best of all is, he does not leave any poop for you to clean up.

No longer do you need to head off to outer space in order to experience anti-gravity - the Air Kicks boots does just that for you at a more down-to-earth price (and location). A pair costs $137.99, and you are supposed to strap these onto the bottom of your shoes, giving you instantaneous high bounce action. Of course, the anti-gravity feeling will be only a fraction of a second, but it is better than accomplishing the same thing with a mere pair of sneakers. Best to wear guards with these as you never know how awkwardly you might land. Just remember to call your insurance agent before trying this out so you’ll be able to take calculated risks when giving this a go.

If you’ve just settled into a new job and have made zero friends so far with only your pet cactus keeping you company, why not spruce up your cubicle with the USB Pen from Tex Japan? This device is essentially a pen stand that is equipped with a light. The moment it is hooked up to your computer or notebook via USB, the USB Pen Stand will light up in seven different colors. Needless to say, it works much better when the lights are out to give you a soothing effect. The surface also shares the same qualities as a white board, enabling you to write impromptu memos whenever you run out of Post It notes. The USB Pen Stand is available in Japan for approximately $10 a pop.

Sony’s upcoming line of Bravia HDTVs are not only for those with a working pair of eyes, but cater to those who are blind as well. This is made possible by including Audio Description (AD) capability into each new Bravia HDTV, with the ultimate aim of increasing the number of programmes, broadcasters, and TV manufacturers to offer a similar service. AD works by being an additional narrative soundtrack for blind or partially sighted people, where gaps in dialog enables a voice to explain visual plot points to give a better mental picture to the blind. Sounds neat, eh? I wonder how they’re going to explain adult and mature channels…

No idea if this is just a prank post or not, but it is interesting to note that Sony is currently promoting the habit of reading. Yeah, that’s what I thought at first glance until I took a second look - apparently Sony is offering free “books” to Italian students in order to help them sneak in some gaming action during class time. These books even come with fake hands so you’ll be able to concentrate fully on your current game. The fake book comes with the title “Divine Comedy” written by Dante himself. I wonder whether they make different colored books to suit every skin shade - woe to you if you got a tan during this summer! Can anyone help verify whether this is a prank?

Looks like transparent LCD displays are all the rage in the future, as countless movies have already portrayed these with the timeline being set in the distant future. Thankfully, the future is now, with transparent LCD displays using a liquid crystal optical film instead of traditional LCD backlights. There is no word on when such technology will be made available to the consumer market, although case studies will have to be carried out beforehand in order to test the waters. Kinda reminds me of a pilot’s cockpit with all these HUDs, but no government would be sane enough to include these in cars. Perhaps a cellphone or PMP with such a display that can be propped up?

You know why the best clocks are often the simplest? Take a look at the Techno Hand Clock and your question is answered. While interesting at first glance, it doesn’t really work well subsequently as your eyes will probably be drawn to the objects located on the fingertips instead of looking at the time. Made from aluminum, brass, bronze, and laminated with Lucite and resin, the Techno Hand Clock comes with the words “Love Waits”, “Time Passes”, and “Love Lives” engraved on its face. Sounds pretty deep to me, which is why you have to cough up $355 for these pearls of wisdom on a timepiece. The Techno Hand Clock can be freestanding or hung on a wall, depending on your preference.

Nike has just launched the Triax Vapor 300 digital watch that frankly, looks like a concept design. The extremely thin LCD display is a joy to look at, mounted onto an aluminum case that wraps around your wrist in the most natural manner. A high quality mineral glass lens ensures you won’t scratch your Triax Vapor 300 easily unless you’re iinto the most extreme of sports. The Triax Vapor 300 targets serious athletes only, although I don’t see no reason why you can’t parade this in front of your jealous mates despite not hitting the gym since the turn of this century. Features include a 300-lap chronograph, 100m water resistance, and a 5-segment interval timer. The Nike Triax Vapor 300 retails for approximately $129 a pop.

We all know how massage chairs seem to be the “in” thing these days, and the ROBO Chair is no exception. Not only does it offer the full range of massaging options to soothe away the day’s stress, the ROBO Chair is also voice activated, enabling you to adjust your recline angle up to 170 degrees with a spoken word. In addition, you can also speak to activate massage programs, position the 3D roller mechanism, and even regulate the intensity of your massage. Sounds neat eh, no longer do you need to fiddle with a remote control that contains more buttons than your TV remote. There are three pre-programmed massage sessions to choose from, and you’ll have to fork out $5,999 for each ROBO Chair. Definitely a luxury and not a necessity.
