Logitech has recently launched the V220 cordless optical mouse for notebooks, bringing notebook users an ergonomically designed mouse complete with soft rubber grips that ensure you have total control of the mouse all the time. As with most modern cordless mice, the receiver of the V220 snaps onto the mouse for easy portability. A single battery offers up to half a year of battery life, ensuring battery changes are few and far between. The V220 boasts a 1,000 DPI high-definition optical sensor that provides ample response for office work, although it won’t fare too well in terms of gaming due to the lack of buttons and ergonomics for extended periods of gaming. The Logitech V220 will be released in the US and Europe this July for $29.99 a pop.

Word from Rumorsville has it that the Motorola Ming cellphone will be given a hardware boost, and this time the revised hardware will get 3G connectivity. In addition to that upgrade, owners of the new MotoMing will receive a 2 megapixel camera with CIF resolution (352 x 288 pixels) and a more robust menu system. Additional details about pricing and availability are unknown, but chances are AT&T will be first off the blocks to offer the MotoMing 2.0. What do you think - rumor or substantiated fact?

Super Talent is currently waging a war against notebook hard drives in particular, releasing a range of Solid State Disks (SSDs) in the 2.5″ format. While 4GB might sound extremely paltry to you (no doubt it is), Super Talent will be providing such hard drives that come in capacities of up to 128GB. Since it has no moving parts, you can expect your notebook’s battery life to improve, in addition to worrying less about data integrity since there are no hard drive heads to plough into the available platters. The only drawback would be its price - a quick check shows that 16GB models retail somewhere in the region of $480, which means the 128GB model will cost a bomb.

Strange to see Creative release the Zen Stone Plus when the Zen Stone was unveiled just last month. The Zen Stone Plus, as its name suggests, will come with improved functions despite sharing a rather similar form factor. What you get is a blue OLED display, an integrated FM radio, stopwatch functionality, and voice recording capability. In addition, the Zen Stone Plus supports recording your voice over to a music track to create your custom karaoke track. It also retains the drag-and-drop feature that was a huge plus in the original Zen Stone. A 2GB Zen Stone Plus will most likely retail for approximately $70, making it a pretty serious contender to the iPod Shuffle’s dominance. Battery life is rated at 9.5 hours for continuous audio playback, but real world usage is probably less than that.

iRiver has come up with some pretty impressive portable media players in the past, but their latest offering, the U:MO comes with more than meets the eye. In addition to regular PMP functions such as watching videos and listening to music, the U:MO boasts the ability to grab satellite TV signals while recording them for later viewing. A miniSD memory card slot is there to save all your missed serials, while the 3.1″ x 0.64″ x 1.9″ body makes the U:MO all the more portable. The iRiver U:MO is considered free, but only if you subscribe to the $17 monthly satellite service. I wonder if they give free hardware upgrades in a couple of years’ time though.

Samsung’s SGH-D610 has just been given the nod of approval from the FCC, which means this GSM/GPRS handset is very close to being released in the US. What you get in this package includes a 262k color display, a 2 megapixel camera, 80MB of internal memory, and a microSD memory card slot for expansion purposes. The Samsung SGH-D610 measures a mere 11.9mm thin, making it a joy to tote around and impress folks. There is no word on pricing or availability, and neither are there any pics floating around due to Samsung’s request for confidentiality.

Alarm clocks these days have clearly evolved beyond what their forefathers used to be, but they still require you to turn them off physically, forcing you to get up in the process. The Carpet Alarm Clock takes a different approach as the only way to turn it off would be to get out of bed and step on it. This concept design comes with an LCD display (which had better be hardy considering how much body weight is applied on it each day) that indicates the current time. I wonder whether there is a minimum weight that is required to turn this thing off, or will some pressure do the trick? If it is the latter, most people would just throw their pillow at it and get straight back to sleep.

If you’re an owner of a notebook and want to keep it in pristine condition during your travels in a stylish manner, what better way than to pick up the Mina notebook bag from abbi newyork? Targeting mostly women in power suits (younger college-going kids probably will steer clear of this), each Mina notebook bag comes with a lifetime warranty. Too bad you can’t fit in anything larger than a 15.1″ notebook as it comes in both 14.1″ and 15.1″ sizes only. The Mina notebook bag will retail for approximately $95.

Samsung has just launched new Ultra Edition II cellphones in Southeast Asia, with the Ultra Edition 12.1 (also known as the U700) heading the pack. Available from July 2007 onwards, the U700 is the slimmest HSDPA slider handset around at this moment, and it will be accompanied by the Ultra Edition 10.9 (U600), the Ultra Edition 9.6 (U300), and the Ultra Edition 5.9 (U100). All four handsets come with a 3 megapixel camera with video recorder capability, high-speed Internet connectivity, and broad multimedia support. What do you think of these new handsets? I personally find that slim handsets aren’t exactly my cup of tea, since I want something solid to hold while messaging and calling, without having to worry about it breaking in half.

We saw the Samsung SGH-F210 earlier, so here we are with the SGH-F200. As the model number suggests, it resembles the F210 closely but comes with watered down features, glaringly missing a camera and the 1GB internal memory, where the latter has been replaced with a paltry 5MB. Thankfully, the microSD memory card slot is retained, giving you up to 2GB of music on the go. Supported audio formats include MP3, AAC, AAC+, and WMA. Features include a built-in FM tuner and Bluetooth 2.0 connectivity. The SGH-F200 measures 89.5mm x 32.6mm x 19.8mm and weighs 76 grams. There is no word on pricing or availability of this GSM handset.
