R2-D2 adds speaker function to desk Just when you thought that R2-D2 was the little droid that does everything, National Console Support Inc. surprises everyone by releasing a couple of R2-D2s that function as desktop computer speakers. Each of them measure 12cm in height and will come in red or blue colors. Flipping up the head domes will unveil a set of speakers, but don’t expect fantastic sound from a $40 pair of speakers. You can hook it up to a nearby audio source via its 3.5mm audio cable. I believe this offering remains strictly for those who are die hard Star Wars fans only. The R2-D2 speakers will arrive in all intergalactic stores when December 2007 rolls around.
