I’m guessing the person who thought of this idea was either really really drunk, or really thirsty. Either way, creating a flask out of your flip flop is ah, desparate, but cool at the same time. I really don’t know what the hell I’d want to drink out of my shoe, especially after walking around on it all day. But I guarantee you could find a way to win a ton of bar bets with these things. “Eat my sandals, why yes I will”.

Despite the Roboquad retailing for under $100, it still packs a pretty impressive amount of technology. This sipder-robot from Wow Wee scuttles all over the place via a 4-layer full-function remote control that enables you to cycle through 6 dozen pre-programmed functions. Alternatively, you can directly control it yourself or freak other people out in the house by letting it rely on internal light and sound sensors to move about on its own. Tweaking with the Activity, Aggressiveness, and Awareness behaviour controls will result in different personalities emerging from the Roboquad. Parents will be able to pick this toy up when August 11 rolls around.

HTC will be holding a press event next week, and expectations are running high that the company will announce a brand new Elf-based device powered by Windows Mobile. This Elf comes with a multitouch display ala iPhone, enabling users to slide their finger across the screen to run commands and interact with the device. Should this rumor hold any water, it makes one wonder just how will the multitouch display Elf run on Windows Mobile since (AFAIK) the latest iteration of that particular operating system does not support multitouch display. Anyone care to help?

Keeping track of your teenager can be quite an impossible task for the working parent, which is why the StreetEagle GPS Tracker offers you to covertly monitor your youngling’s general whereabouts. It must be installed in a vehicle, where it subsequently alerts you of the car’s travels in two minute intervals via e-mail or text message. The StreetEagle GPS Tracker is also smart enough to log details such as the exact speed, routes, and parking time. It can even alert you should the vehicle enter an unauthorized area such as your daughter’s boyfriend’s house. Things get better (for the parents) as the StreetEagle GPS Tracker also boasts the ability to lock/unlock doors remotely (this is where manual windows come in handy) and immobilize ignition.

The TeddyCam Baby Monitoring System might sound all too innocent, but chances are you will find mothers using this to spy on their kids and husband instead of keeping an eye on baby. The camera is located inside the nose, using an integrated 2.4GHz transmitter to send video signals to a TV-connected receiver. Unfortunately, the TeddyCam comes with a CMOS black and white camera only, which means you can’t get your voyeur kicks in color. It is good enough to record images in low light situations thanks to the low minimum light level of just 0.5 lux. The TeddyCam Baby Monitoring System retails for $53.99.

Narae from Korea has recently unveiled the Soban jeychain that actually doubles up as a tiny digital photo album. It comes with cuts on the side that resembles a traditional photo album, where the 128MB internal memory holds up to 7,000 images for your viewing pleasure. A USB slot is there for you to upload all your favorite memories in a digital format. The Narae Soban comes with a battery life of up to 7 hours, so you will probably get through a week’s worth of photo viewing before requiring a recharge. Pricing details are unknown, although you can pick one up in Korea only at this point in time. If only video support was present - that would make the Soban truly something.

Steve Jobs proudly announced yesterday at the D conference that Apple TV users will soon, in June, be able to watch YouTube videos on their TVs. But they’ll have to wait until Fall to access all of YouTube’s catalog. Firstly, I would argue that using my gorgeous and expensive LCD HDTV -you’ll need one with the Apple TV!- to watch crappy quality videos (like mines by the way
is like putting “Chanel lipstick on a pig”… I just love Chanel!More, including a video, on UberPulse.

The Voyager robot fence is definitely an interesting addition to any farm, being an electrified fence that is smart enough to prevent cows from wandering out of the designated grazing zone. This smart fence also moves a few feet on occasion to give cows fresh grass to graze upon. Whenever cows get from one end of the field to the other, the fence will redirect the entire herd back to the starting point, giving cows a fresh start while enabling the field to regenerate. The fence itself comprises of two 4-wheel skid-steer robots that ensure the electrified line is properly tensioned between them. What happens if they gain an awareness of their own and start to herd humans instead?

The folks at the FCC has recently given the nod to the Toshiba Portege G900 device which runs on Windows Mobile 6.0 and boasts a feature set that claims to be way ahead of its time. Bear in mind that FCC approval does not mean a device will be released in the U.S. - it just means that the device has been declared legal for Stateside use. Yet another souped up smartphone in our midst to tempt us to part with our hard earned money. Do you think the Portege G900 will be released in the near future?

If you’re Sir Alex Ferguson or Jose Mourinho, tracking the players on the field is an easy task since you have years of experience by the sidelines. However, having a good sense of positioning is not something everybody is blessed with, which is why the Real Track Futbol device enables coaching staff to track players on the field via GPS (pretty much like how soccer video games work from a top-down perspective) while obtaining real-time readings on their physical condition as well. Do you think this Spain-developed system for soccer will be ported over to American Football, Basketball, and Ice Hockey? At least managers now have solid proof to give the hairdryer treatment during half time to players who played out of position without realizing it.
