While you can’t summon Batman with this, at the very least you can tell the current time for those of you who are too cheap to buy a nice looking watch. The Time Projecting Laser will display the current time on most surfaces at the press of a button, thanks to the red laser built at the opposite end of the pen. Just remember not to point the ‘time’ at somebody’s eye lest you’re getting him an eye patch this Christmas. The Time Projecting Laser pen currently retails for $11.99 and is powered by a couple of LR44 button cell batteries.

Not in a million years would I ever have associated something as relaxing as a La-Z-Boy armchair being used as a racer. Armchair Cruisers from Indiana offers that option, converting virtually any stuffed seat into roadworthy transportation, where the whole works include a gas or electric engine, brakes, lights, and an appropriate number of seat belts. Prices start from $3,000 upwards, depending on your configuration. Throw in more moolah and your chair will come with a plasma display, speakers, GPS connectivity, and a laptop. Gas and electric models have a top speed of 40mph and 7mph respectively.

Miracube has recently made known its 32″ 3D monitor that targets both gamers and casual home movie buffs. Unfortunately, at 32″ of viewing space, the screen resolution maxes out at 1,366 x 384 for 3D, while 2D fares better at 1,366 x 768. I guess that means you can forget about playing all your next gen games in real 3D instead of just viewing polygons. I don’t know about you, but even playing a short while on a 3D monitor makes me queasy. I guess I’m not quite cut out to be a true hardcore gamer after all. There is no word on pricing details as at press time.

Where even the Surgeon General’s warning has failed to keep people off cigarettes, perhaps the Smoking Jacket could help. This conceptual device comes with a pair of built-in lungs in front that function as an iconographic warning system. The polite smoker blows all those second hand smoke into the “container” located at the collar instead of sharing it with non-smokers around. This smoke is subsequently filtered through a set of see-through lungs in front, where time and more smoke will darken the pair of lungs to provide a visceral visual reminder of how smoking is bad for you (and those around).

Here is a concept of a luxury cellphone which is made from titanium and stainless steel while boasting a slider form factor that is easy on the eye. Measuring 45mm x 73.5mm x 10.25mm, the BYB Balance handset comes with a pair of touchscreens inside that are protected when closed, while flipping the BYB Balance over and taking advantage of the slider function results in the handset being used as a clock or digital photo frame. Other features include a 5.1 megapixel camera with auto focus and 2x optical zoom, 3G/HSDPA connectivity, WiFi, Bluetooth 2.0, and a GPS navigation system. The 512MB of internal memory can be enhanced by plopping in a microSD memory card. Too bad this remains a pie-in-the-sky concept at the moment.

I don’t know what Microsoft is thinking, unveiling a new red colored Zune when everything else inside remains the same. Why can’t Microsoft look beyond the surface and concentrate on what really matters in digital audio players instead, which comprises of the user interface, ease-of-use, and functionality just like how Apple is doing it? Those who are still hard headed enough to pick up the red Zune will have to part with $249 when it is released sometime this summer.

We mostly lie when we say “I understand” to our friend who is going through a difficult period in life. There is now the Virtual Hallucinations earphone and google training device that help you empathize with your mentally ill friend by putting you through the same experiences, simulating schizophrenia as well as putting you in situations where you are attacked by predatory birds while on a bus with randomly appearing and disappearing folk. Are these things even safe to begin with? What if certain segments of our dear police force, paramedics, and social workers who have a low level of mental strength end up in a straightjacket after sitting through a few sessions of Virtual Hallucinations? Alternatively, you can always drive the local neighborhood cop nuts by hiding his coffee and donuts.

There isn’t really any digital photo frame to date that actually gets the blood pumping, but the MemoryFrame MF-8104 Premium might just change that situation, featuring integrated WiFi connectivity that enables you to stream photos from sites such as Flickr, Windows Live Spaces and Webshots without having you fork out even a single penny upfront for those pesky subscription services. In addition, you can use this 10.4″ display to watch your favorite movies while listening to audio tracks. Each $350 purchase comes with a remote control. The pricing is rather steep though, but it’d make a pretty good gift idea.

Panasonic isn’t letting up on the megapixel race, with the DMC-FX100 being the latest camera that captures images at a whopping 12 megapixel resolution, thanks to the wide angle lens that helps you cram in more image in a smaller space. The DMC-FX100 boasts an unimpressive 3.6x optical zoom, Mega O.I.S. for shaky hands, a 2.5″ LCD display, and a top sensitivity of ISO 6400 (available in 3 megapixel mode only). Choose from silver and black colors when the DMC-FX100 is released this July.
