Having a dog can be a great source of joy in your life, but only if you take full responsibility for it. Most homes without fences are great for dogs as they have the freedom to roam about, but sometimes as an owner you will definitely be worried for him if he has not returned after a few hours. The RoamEO GPS unit helps keep track of your dog within a one mile radius, and works with up to three different pets simultaneously. Whenever your pet leaves the designated perimeter, the RoamEO GPS unit will alert you. A shock/voice command collar that alerts the animal should it leave the preset boundary will be available in the next iteration.

We have smart schools, smart bombs, and now, smart doors. This high-tech automated door can be opened to fit your size, although I don’t really see whether there is any practical use for it or not. What if there is a steady stream of fat and thin people walking through it, does that mean the door will open fast enough to accomodate everyone of different sizes? Chances are this door will be a white elephant, taking up more electricity and adding to the global warming woes indirectly. I say stick with well oiled hinges and you’re good to go.

Ladies who want a good laugh at home can surprise their partner with the Gun Shaped Hair Dryer. I suppose if your husband sees you pointing one of these to your head, they’ll automatically start to think about where they have gone wrong and wayward, while bringing out the credit card to soothe your impending “suicide” with the freedom to spend as you wish. This unique hair dryer comes with a trio of settings - low, high, and cold air. Pulling the trigger will not release a bullet as expected, but instead blow the air out. You can pick one from Bathroom Graffiti in blue, purple, pink, and green colors.

Creative has added yet another Zen to their lineup known as the Wav. Pretty much similar to the Zen Neeon in many ways, the Wav comes with an additional joystick and a couple of buttons on the face for navigation purposes. Features include external speakers, a world clock, and an alarm, although I think it would be wiser to stick to a pair of good earphones since a puny external speaker such as this won’t do your music and videos any justice at all. The Creative Zen Wav ships with a 1.5″ 65k color display (somewhat disappointing considering most other MP4 players come with 262k color support), an integrated FM radio, line-in recording, and voice recording. It will retail for approximately $120 when launched in Singapore on May 25th, with no word on U.S. availability yet.

While there are already quite a number of fan fixtures with integrated light sources (or is it the other way around?) available, the Blow Ceiling Fan with Light by Luceplan is one of the best looking ones available. Operating on standard electrical wires, you get a quiet fan that creates refreshing breezes, along with a light above the fan blades to keep your pad well lit as dusk falls. Choose from blue, green, orange, multi, or transparent blades. The price tag will definitely put most people off though, as it retails for $744.93.

Some families have trouble coming to an agreement when it comes to regulating the home temperature, especially during winter. In order to ease the pains of arguments, why not pick up this Home Regulator from Matsushita Electric? It boasts a family of penguins on its screen, offering a fun, kid-friendly way of controlling the temperature. This design will also definitely appeal to adults who are averse to technology. While this unique Home Regulator won’t be able to provide an optimal temperature where everyone can agree with, at least it offers an operating environment that diffuses the tension hanging in the air. The downside would the the video game-like appeal to small kids, causing them to cause havoc in the home’s temperature. Better place this out of reach of children!

Are you the shy type who is scared of waking those around you when you alarm clock goes off? If the answer is in the affirmative, the Hybrid Alarm Clock concept by Francesco Costacurta is the perfect device for you. This timekeeping device is a spawn between the kitchen minute counter and a normal alarm. You can use it like a normal alarm clock by setting the desired time you want to get up, or using one of the three preset timers (choose from 3, 5, or 8 hours). If you can wake up with light changes in the environment, just use the pulsing red light as a substitute instead. I’m not sure about you, but I definitely won’t be able to wake up with just some light flashing across the room.
