MP3 Pocket Player concept

MP3 Pocket Player concept

Portable media players often have to skirt the line between functionality and portability, but this concept from Matthias Lange shapes up to be pretty pocket-friendly, offering a way for you to carry your favorite digital tunes without an unsightly bulge in your pocket. Known as the MP3 Pocket Player, this portable audio device comes in a bent shape that has a two-fold function - to fit into pockets better as well as aiding your eyes when it comes to reading information on the tiny screen. Will manufacturers take heed of such concepts and work on them, or will they continue to bulldoze ahead in pride?

Old ballpoint pen doubles up as stylus

Old ballpoint pen doubles up as stylus

An old ballpoint pen can be turned into a usable stylus, thanks to LSN Global who created the ECOPLUS ballpoint pen cartridge that is equipped with a tiny plastic tip that mimics the end of a standard stylus you find on all touch-based devices. While the idea sounds interesting at first, there’s an easier way of recycling your pen by simply buying an ink refill instead of converting it to a stylus. A further play on this idea would be including a stylus tip on the pen’s cover - when you’re not putting down your John Hancock, you can use the same pen to direct Phoenix Wright’s courtroom shenanigans on your DS.

Multi-functional pen from Narae Inter

Multi-functional pen from Narae Inter

Having flash memory inside your writing instrument is not a new idea, but Narae Inter has taken this idea one step further by throwing in a laser pointer and flashlight functionality into the humble pen. Yes, you can now carry out your PowerPoint presentations with panache, while the flashlight helps you find your way in an emergency blackout. This unique writing instrument comes in various capacities ranging from 128MB to 2GB, and it remains to be seen whether the battery life is decent or not. One thing’s for sure though - this pen will probably weigh a ton (relatively speaking).

Scientists create sheeple for people

Scientists have created the world’s first human-sheep chimera - which has the body of a sheep and half-human organs. The sheep have 15 per cent human cells and 85 per cent animal cells - and their evolution brings the prospect of animal organs being transplanted into humans one step closer.Professor Esmail Zanjani, of the University of Nevada, has spent seven years and £5million perfecting the technique, which involves injecting adult human cells into a sheep’s foetus. He has already created a sheep liver which has a large proportion of human cells and eventually hopes to precisely match a sheep to a transplant patient, using their own stem cells to create their own flock of sheep. The process would involve extracting stem cells from the donor’s bone marrow and injecting them into the peritoneum of a sheep’s foetus. When the lamb is born, two months later, it would have a liver, heart, lungs and brain that are partly human and available for transplant. Now scientists create a sheep that’s 15% human

Amazing Ping Pong Ball Bouncing Video

Clearly this dude has way to much time on his hands. I’m not doubting his skills, bouncing ping pong balls into cups is a talent, for reals. But take a look at the video and you’ll learn just how he got good at it. All of the furniture in his garage would seem to indicate […]

Clearly this dude has way to much time on his hands. I’m not doubting his skills, bouncing ping pong balls into cups is a talent, for reals. But take a look at the video and you’ll learn just how he got good at it. All of the furniture in his garage would seem to indicate that’s where he lives. And when you live in the garage at your parents house, bouncing ping pong balls into red cups is pretty much what you end up being good at.

Zaptag carries your personal info

Zaptag carries your personal infoThe Zaptag is a waterproof USB flash drive that stores all your critical medical information such as name, blood type, insurance information, next-of-kin, drug allergies, and even a Do Not Resuscitate (DNR) order, making it an essential tool for everyone to carry no matter what your age is. All you need to do is plug the Zaptag into any PC with a USB port in order to access the information, which means paramedics and emergency personnel will have to carry a laptop in the ambulance from now on. Future revisions will see the Zaptag receive a larger storage capacity that enables users to store medical histories as well as drug prescriptions.
